The Junk - Charter Overview
Air-conditioned throughout, but with outdoor areas in shade or for sunbathing, The Junk offers total comfort for every guest on board. Although most of her passengers charter her for diving cruises, there is plenty of space and things to do for the twenty hours per day not spent underwater, and for non-diving guests. There is a beautiful saloon with entertainment facilities, large dining area, and comfortable and spacious cabins, all of which have en suite bathrooms.
The Junk was first built in Penang over 50 years ago, using fine woods from Lang Kawi and other quality materials from the region. She was one of a fleet of cargo vessels sailing the local seas, with life for those onboard in absolute contrast from what her guests experience today. In 1985 she was transformed into a private yacht, then became a diving liveaboard in 1998. Since then, she has been owned and run by the same company and has even starred in movies.
It’s impossible to know which of her many features stand out as the one to make her so special, due to the cabins, entertainment, service, dining and of course diving all being among the best available. There is a good selection of cabin size and features, allowing large families and groups enough choice to find the perfect balance of privacy and warmth.
