Similan Islands Liveaboards Thailand: 9 out of 10 based on 542 scuba diver ratings.

Blog

Here is where we post articles which may be of interest to anyone who is interested in Similan Islands diving. From time to time we are able to offer substantial discounts for last-minute bookings or well in advance which can be found on our Similan Islands Special offers page. In addition, there’s season-long Similan Islands information that can enable divers and potential divers to better understand their different options when choosing a Similan liveaboard. This isn’t just about being in the water, either. Some people like to travel on a budget, and others like to pay for minimum inconvenience. We try our best to give as many details as possible in order for those wanting to dive in the Similan Islands or Richelieu Rock to make the best decision that suits their needs. Finally, there is a section for relevant news topics which may affect (or not) the diving situation in and around the Similan Islands. It’s not uncommon for those in other countries and continents to hear something on the news and worry (or not) unnecessarily. Our news section is impartial and honest at all times.

map from krabi to khao lakDivers who are staying in Krabi, at Railay or on Koh Lanta the day of their Similan liveaboard departure should not consider going to Phuket for the afternoon pick up transfer. Because most boats depart from Khao Lak, it’s better to go there directly by road. However, if the boat sails from Phuket, then of course it is necessary to go there. If your Similan diving trip departs in the morning, you have to stay in Khao Lak the night before anyway.

sim cards thailandMany of our guests want to stay connected to the rest of the world, maybe for social media or for business purposes. Almost all of them spend a day or more on land before or after their trip, and they often ask about how to obtain a local sim card for calls and data. Most of our liveaboard trips are three or more days out at sea. And only one or two boats have Wi-Fi. Foreigners buying Thai sim cards to use at Similan Islands can enjoy the benefits of being contactable, online conveniently and at a low cost.

nemo pre organisation and theory introWe have dozens of boats, run by more than twenty dive centres based in Khao Lak and Phuket. All of them have their own ways of doing things, but some are more organised than others. Because of the excellent organisation at Khao Lak Fun Divers Nemo 1 liveaboard guests, and Nemo 2 day trip divers can relax in the knowledge that everything is prepared for the best diving experience.

Dutch divers group introWe welcome divers from all over the world, and many of our guests come from Europe. For some reason, in November 2017 we have had a lot more divers from The Netherlands than other years. Our most recent was a group of Dutch divers at Similan Islands & Richelieu Rock on Lapat. They were experienced and mostly middle-aged divers who had a great trip on Lapat’s first 4D4N trip of the season.

Discount liveaboards introThe subject of discounted liveaboard scuba diving trips in Similan Thailand is a sensitive topic. Some boat operators offer discounts and allow agents to do the same. Other boat operators never discount and they forbid their agents from offering special deals. Although everyone likes to get a good deal, a highly-competitive market is mainly a bad thing for scuba diving liveaboard cruises. This article explains the reasons for the how & why the situation is as it is.

question mark direct or agent introOnline shopping is so common now that people around the world shop online for all kinds of things and activities. You may be thinking which is better out of booking a Similan liveaboard trip direct or through an agent. You may not even be aware who you’re booking through, such is the online presence of some agents and the poor efforts by some boat operators to be found online. Anyway, this blog explains the advantages and disadvantages of booking your Similan liveaboard cruise directly with the boat’s owner or through an online booking agent.

We attract diving customers from all over the world. Just over half of our guests are from Europe, North America & Australia, but the number of Asian divers is increasing all the time. Asian divers include Thais, Malaysians, Japanese, Chinese and Koreans. It’s always fun to watch or dive with Korean scuba divers at Similan Islands & Richelieu Rock because they’re good divers and they’re very friendly.

Sometimes customers have to change their holiday plans and are forced to cancel an activity, such as a scuba diving day trip or liveaboard safari diving cruise. Also, from time to time the trips are cancelled even though the guests are ready and happy to join. There are several reasons and outcomes in the rare case of a cancelled scuba diving liveaboard trip, safari or cruise.

transferwise introWe are delighted to announce that we can now offer our customers a new (and excellent) way to make payments from around the world. Transferwise is our latest option for booking payments and we are now able to offer our guests this extra option in order for them to keep exchange rates and bank fees to a minimum. We have customers from countries on every continent, and each of them has their preferred choice of how to pay, as well as there being some restrictions from banks or country-controlled internet access.
