Blog

Here is where we post articles which may be of interest to anyone who is interested in Similan Islands diving. From time to time we are able to offer substantial discounts for last-minute bookings or well in advance which can be found on our Similan Islands Special offers page. In addition, there’s season-long Similan Islands information that can enable divers and potential divers to better understand their different options when choosing a Similan liveaboard. This isn’t just about being in the water, either. Some people like to travel on a budget, and others like to pay for minimum inconvenience. We try our best to give as many details as possible in order for those wanting to dive in the Similan Islands or Richelieu Rock to make the best decision that suits their needs. Finally, there is a section for relevant news topics which may affect (or not) the diving situation in and around the Similan Islands. It’s not uncommon for those in other countries and continents to hear something on the news and worry (or not) unnecessarily. Our news section is impartial and honest at all times.

Nemo 1 liveaboard introReady for the 2017-2018 southern Thailand scuba diving season, M/V Nemo 1 is our brand-new Similan liveaboard diving boat. After many months of careful planning, preparation, and hard work, the boat is already in the water and ready to start flexible scuba diving trips to the Similan Islands, Koh Bon & Koh Tachai. The whole boat has been designed and built from a clean sheet of paper to offer its guests the best experience and value. We visited the all-new Nemo 1 on October 3rd 2017 and were delighted to see that everything is ready and on schedule.

Phuket vs khaolak which is best introMost of our Similan diving boats sail from Khao Lak, but Phuket is the better-known place for international tourists. How can you choose which place to come to, and how & when you should come? This article explains the advantages of each place, and gives vital information, help & advice for our divers.

How much tip should i give at the end of my trip introPaying a gratuity tip to the staff and/or boat crew after a scuba diving trip is quite common, but not mandatory. In fact, if it was mandatory, it wouldn’t be a tip. The correct amount to pay scuba diving liveaboard tips for staff & crew varies on so many factors. These include how happy you are with the service, what kind of trip it was and how long it was, and where you’re diving. Where in the world you come from will also help your decision and judgement, too.

We at Similan Diving Tours (No Troubles, Just Bubbles) feel that our prices, service, promotions & choice of trips makes us the best online booking agent for your next scuba diving liveaboard trip in Thailand or around Asia. Our philosophy is to offer our guests, clear, honest, best-price liveaboard diving online booking for every trip, regardless of the price or number of guests.

Two of our most-popular boats are MV Camic & MV Nemo 1. They are so popular for several reasons, which include value for money and offering ‘flexible liveaboard cruises.’ This means that divers can join on any day, and stay for as long they choose. For the new 2017-18 Similan Islands diving season there’s something new for both boats. Camic is getting new cabins in a total refit, and Nemo 1 is a brand-new boat. We are very excited to be able to offer even better trips for our liveaboard guests this coming season.

We have several boats which are offering ‘Early Booking Discounts’ for the upcoming Similan diving liveaboard season. The diving season begins in mid-October, and runs through to the middle of May. Some of the boats have a discount for trips throughout the season but a booking date deadline. Others offer discount for booking 3 months before departure.

Donald Duck Bay Similan Islands Metcalfe and Clayton families introAnother Thailand diving season has come to an end. For some, this 2016-17 season was not as good as past years, but for us it was another record-breaking success. The main reason for the season being less successful for some was almost certainly the weather, which has been hit-and-miss throughout Thailand since October. However for us, any negative effects caused by the weather were more than counterbalanced by the ever-increasing number of divers who chose to book through us either for the first time or as repeat customers.

Thailand dive expo 2017 introEvery year there are diving exhibitions around the world, and Thailand’s is TDEX (Thailand Dive Expo). It’s held each year in the middle of May, starting on a Thursday and finishing on a Sunday. TDEX 2017 was really busy, and there were lots of potential diving tourists, traders and vendors offering promotions, and some awesome discounts.

Sundeck in sunset Sawasdee Fasai diving liveaboardA member of our team recently went on a wonderful 4D4N Similan liveaboard diving trip on the extremely-popular Sawasdee Fasai. April 21st-25th 2017 was when Jamie was lucky enough to join a trip on one of our favourite diving liveaboards, and he enjoyed a fantastic dive safari to The Similan Islands, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai & Richelieu Rock. The whole experience was made great by the people involved as much as the diving and the boat itself.

Sunset similans by fah winyukul introThe Manta Rays (and more) have arrived and they are the highlight of many divers’ and even snorkellers’ day trips & liveaboard cruises to the Similan Islands. It’s not too late to book your place, and some boats even have discounted trips!
