MV Blue Dolphin

M/V Blue Dolphin has quickly become a very popular Similan Islands liveaboard. The original boat was built in 2017, but renamed and totally renovated for 2022. Now, the boat has four types of cabin to choose from, plus a camera station, air-conditioned indoor lounge and large outdoor communal areas. The boat is operated and run by an extremely-experienced team of multinational dive instructors, and helped by a wonderful local crew.

Accommodating up to 16 very lucky guests, Blue Dolphin has just 7 cabins, all of which are fully air conditioned and have windows. On the main deck are two Deluxe cabins, two Standard cabins, and a 4-bunk cabin. The bunk and Standard cabins share four bathrooms on the same deck. The Standard and Deluxe cabins have a clever set up that enables the beds to be arranged as a large double or two single beds, and the Deluxe cabins have their own private en suite bathroom. On the upper deck are two Master cabins, which have a king-size bed, a wardrobe/closet and a large window. Solo guests who pay a premium to stay alone in a Master cabin can choose to further increase floor space by reducing the size of the bed.

There are lots of well-designed communal areas on Blue Dolphin. The most talked about is the camera station on the dive deck. The area is clean, sheltered and well lit, with storage boxes for each photographer and a soft clean surface. Whether you're a professional photographer or just a budding amateur, the camera station is there for you to enjoy. Also on the dive deck each guest has his or her own tank slot, and separate boxes for diving equipment and personal items that need to be kept dry. Relaxing areas on Blue Dolphin include a sundeck up top and a small seating area at the front of the upper deck. There's also a large covered seating area at the rear of the main deck, which is where most guests relax and eat the delicious meals. And finally, Blue Dolphin has an air-conditioned lounge saloon where you can watch a movie, read a book, or study for your Advanced or Nitrox course.

Diving from Blue Dolphin is done in small groups of divers, who are led by professional dive guides. The team divides divers into groups according to diving certification, experience, air consumption and any special needs. The boat has a dinghy that can easily drop you off directly above the best dive sites in Thailand. There's Nitrox available for certified divers, and if you're not a Nitrox diver, you can choose to become so on the cruise. The boat has a full set of the latest safety, navigation and communication features, ensuring that everything runs without incident.
