MV Nangnuan Overview
Departing every Sunday and Wednesday morning, MV Nangnuan is a very popular liveaboard diving boat. At twenty years old, but still in fantastic condition, she is one of the very first Similan liveaboard boats and has continued in her traditional ways ever since. Nowadays, there are lots of larger vessels offering air-conditioned deluxe suites and master cabins, but Nangnuan gives backpacking and environmentally-aware divers the opportunity to enjoy this pristine archipelago without wasting money or fuel. Diving on this boat is for those who want small groups, fresh air, silent nights, and excellent diving around the Similan Islands and Koh Bon. Her trips 3D/2N Similan budget diving trips are unbeatable value.
With cruises sailing around the Similan Islands and Koh Bon, Nangnuan guests get opportunities to visit pristine beaches of uninhabited tropical islands between dives, most notably, Donald Duck Bay & Island #4. Everything that happens on this wonderful boat is shared between just eight diving guests and two dive staff. The crew serve delicious food and help divers in and out of the water and with anything else they need on these unique diving safaris. And it should be remembered that regardless of how much money diving guests spend on luxury diving cruises, the fish don’t know or care! It makes no difference how much luxury is enjoyed aboard a diving safari or liveaboard cruise, the marine life to be encountered depends on where, when, and for how long divers are in these crystal-clear waters.
Although diving on Nangnuan is ‘back to basics’ there is still a full complement of great food and service. Beer is reasonably priced for after the last dive of each day, and everyone gets to know each other from the start. The price-per-dive is cheaper than any other diving boat at the Similan Islands, making Nangnuan the cheapest Similan Islands liveaboard cruise. Non diving guests are also welcome aboard.
Divers of all levels of experience are welcome on Nangnuan's trips, but thos who haven't dived in more than a year need to do a local refresher dive before departure. Also, to abide by insurance policies, and to really see the best of the dive sites, Nangnuan divers need to be certified to 30m. (99ft.). Open Water divers are very welcome on every trip, but they need to choose between the (1,500 THB) Adventure Deep dive during the trip, or take the PADI Advanced Course. The PADI Advance Course is unbeatable value, because divers get to join a 3-dive day trip before the cruise at no extra cost! This enables the Nangnuan cruise to be more fun and less studying.
